LAUREN FLAX
IHEARTCOMIX
- 2009-2010: Gen Avail/Open To Ideas
Three words that do not describe Lauren Flax: calm, collected, and shy. More accurately Lauren is precise, intense, and grounded. And be warned- she’ll throw what little body weight she has full force into her music. Give her an inch and she’ll take you on a journey through the lost depths of Narnia. With 11+ years under her belt she’s played every major city in America and most across the Atlantic. Her knack for reading crowds is unmatched- her eclectic taste in dance music invariably manages to get everyone in the room moving. It’s clear how much fun Lauren has when she plays, and how much she enjoys her sets. Her energy is infectious and nobody could ever accuse her of treating music like a “job”.
Dating back to the 90’s, Detroit born Lauren Flax has shared the stage with an amazing array of talent: DJ Heather, Disco D, Carl Craig, Jungle Brothers, Green Velvet, Derrek May, Kevin Saunderson…the list goes on and on. Lauren also recently DJ’d for none other than Madonna on the Hard Candy TV Special featured on the Fuse music channel. She has also earned a solid reputation for remixing; Le Tigre and Morningwood are just two examples of bands she has under her belt in that arena. Most recently her remix of HEARTSREVOLUTION’s C.Y.O.A! was released on iHEARTCOMIX.
Lauren’s compositions may be lesser known to the dance community, as she has most often worked on film and television scores. Recently however, she has been concentrating on releasing her first single titled “You’ve Changed” which enlists the vocals of Sia (zero7) with remixes by, among others, Junior Sanchez and Dre Skull.
Expect much more to come from Lauren Flax, including a stint as a guest band member for HEARTSREVOLUTION, who are currently on a world tour. In November of 2008 Lauren begins DJing for Fischerspooner for the entirety of their Australian tour and will continue to tour both solo and with FS throughout 2009.
